“Creating Innovative Pathways for More Open, Informed, and Peaceful Societies”
DT Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to “doing development differently.” We implement complex global development programs in conflict, fragile, and closed environments. We also fund thought leadership initiatives that drive innovation and improve lives through evidence-based programming.
Our Mission
We partner with local communities and leaders to build more open, informed, and peaceful societies and strengthen their resilience through our dual role as a funder and implementer.
Our Vision
A world where all people have the freedom and tools to shape peaceful societies

Our Institutional Values
DT Institute’s staff collectively have hundreds of years of experience in peace and development. Our values reflect our team’s hard-won knowledge and wisdom, as well as our passion for helping those in need. Our values also reflect our professional and respectful approach to each other, our partners, our donors, and those we serve.
Integrity. We operate under the highest ethical standards for responsibility, fairness, and transparency in all that we do.
Innovation. We take action and embrace risk to discover more effective methods, harness greater efficiencies, and enhance collective impact.
Collaboration: We develop and facilitate long-term, authentic partnerships and local ownership based on a shared vision of success, focused more on results and effectiveness and less on who gets credit for achievements.
Transparency: Our relationships with partners and colleagues are grounded in respect and trust, valuing different perspectives and viewpoints and demonstrating openness to change.
Stewardship: As funders, implementers, and thought leaders, we hold ourselves accountable for responsibly managing the funding that we receive and sharing our learnings and experience with broader communities.
To protect the identities of our fearless colleagues doing the impactful work on the frontlines, we do not publish bios or photos for most field staff.
DT Institute is committed to the highest standards of legal compliance, ethics, and transparency.
